Walk the journey with us as we build a contemporary, environmentally-friendly house in the
City of Falls Church, Virginia.
"Erdhaus" is German for "earth house" which represents one of the coolest aspects of the home -- we're using the dirt from the property to create compressed earth bricks, which become the exterior walls of the house.
It looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all the progress you've made so far with the building permits, financing, certifications, etc.
When do you think construction will begin?
Thanks, Dave! I'm glad you like it. I know not everyone appreciates a contemporary design, but it's something Andreas and I both like a lot.
ReplyDeleteI hesitated to answer your question before, since we weren't sure how long it would take until the financing came through. But the folks at the local bank really worked their butts off to pull the rabbit out of the hat so we could close today. Work will start on the lot in the next couple of days, with the actual construction (excavation, footers, foundation, etc.) starting in the middle of this month.
I hope you and Jeff have a happy New Year!
